Choto Sona Mosjid (Small Golden Mosque) is located
in Shibganj Upazila under Chapai Nawabganj district. This historical
mosque was built by Wali Muhammad during the reign of Sultan Husain Shah
(1493-1519). According to local legend, this mosque was once richly
decorated with gilding and gold paint in the tile decoration.
In addition to four
corner towers, there are two additional projecting buttressed towers
that frame the back of the central Mihrab. The mosque is measuring
82'x52' (exterior) and 70'x40' (interior). The structure is embellished
with Rajmahal black stone facing on the exterior. All arches and domes
are of brick.
