Dinajpur Rajbari is situated on the north-east
portion of Dinajpur town which is originally enclosed with defensive
moats and high rampart. This main Mohal and enclosing moat of Rajbari
were constructed by Maharaja Prannath and his adopted son Ramnath in
the 18th century. This was built in the mixture of European, Muslim and
Hindu styles. Two parallel moats called Ramdanga surrounded the palace
on all sides. All the building are occupying 16.41 acres of land.
Inside the palace
boundary, there is a Krsna temple (on left) and some ruined outhouses
and another inner gateway (on right). The palace is now a collection of
old abandoned bricks, though only front side of the Rajbari was
repaired. There are three Mohals (blocks) - Aina Mohal, Rani Mohal and
Thakurbadi Mohal.
